Reynoldsburg is a city in Fairfield, Franklin, and Licking counties Ohio with a population of 35,893 at the 2010 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.16 sq mi and as of 2000, there were 32,069 people, 12,849 households, and 8,801 families residing in the city. Reynoldsburg is known as "The Birthplace of the Tomato", claiming the first commercial variety of tomato was bred there in the 19th century and the Tomato Festival has been held every year since 1965. Every year in August there is a Tomato Festival Queen.
To please your palate, the Reynoldsburg Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual Taste of Reynoldsburg business expo in August. The event features area restaurants serving a variety of local favorites, as well as special guests for the kids including McGruff and Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog.
On Labor Day the annual Mount Carmel Fitness Challenge is held. The event features several fitness staples, such as a half-marathon and 5k race, and also features original events, such as the In-line skate half marathon. Wheelchairs are welcome for both the 5k and half-marathon races.
Nearby Pine Quarry Park features extensive pine woodlands, a rocky gorge once used as a limestone quarry and more walking paths. Families can get active at Kennedy Park, which features four lighted tennis courts, ten baseball diamonds, playgrounds, a skate park and bicycle path. Right next door enjoy Huber Park with its footballs fields, soccer fields and a recreation path, which runs alongside Blacklick Creek.
The city currently has six elementary schools, two middle schools, two junior high schools and one high school. In 2008 a levy was passed to build an additional high school and another elementary school. The high school and junior high school's mascot is the Raider (a pirate) and its colors are purple and gold.
