Clintonville, Ohio: A Columbus Suburb

Clintonville, Ohio is a Columbus suburb with approximately 30,000 residents. The small town has amazing ambiance, and makes easy living more than possible. Clintonville has a rich history that started with Clinton Township in the 1800s when land was purchased by Thomas Bull and his family. Several years later, Clintonville opened a post office and the town became known as Clintonville. This occurred September 13, 1847, which is considered to be the year in which the town was established, and the birthday that residents celebrate each year.

Education in Clintonville

Education has always been an important part of life in Clintonville. The first schools in the town were only one-room shacks. These schools were in existence during the 1800s. Nowadays, the school buildings are much larger, but they still serve the same purpose, and that is to provide each and every student in attendance with a level of education that is second to none. The school district has two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.  A total of eight private schools is also located in the area.

With the close proximity to Columbus, there are numerous attractions designed for all ages, including the Columbus Zoo, the Ohio Historical Center, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and more. However, if you want to stay inside of Clintonville, there is an array of activities you will find.  Shopping is a favorite pastime, and residents have their choice of retail shops within a few miles of one another. Dining is also plentiful in Clintonville, and having a meal at one of the delightful restaurants in the area always brings big smiles.

A visit to Whetstone Park is a great way to spend the day. At this amazing park, which was opened in 1952, there is a baseball field, a tennis court, a library, bike and hiking trails, a recreation facility and the Park of Roses. Many special events are held at the beautiful Park of Roses each year. The 13-acre facility is absolutely delightful to see. Summer months at the Park of Roses is a time when brass bands play their music each Sunday on the gazebo.

Olentangy Park is yet another park that Clintonville residents can enjoy. It once was an amusement park, and the largest in the United States. It opened in 1880 and at that time was known as the Villa. The park has more than 100 acres of fun.

Costs of Buying a Clintonville Home

Prices for the purchase of a three-bedroom home start at about $87,000 in the Governor’s Square area, $107,303 in the Preston area, and homes selling for half a million dollars or more in other neighborhoods. Homes include historic landmarks, newly constructed units, condos, and more.

There are four areas in Clintonville: Beechwold, North Clintonville, South Clintonville, and North of Morse. Each of these areas have beautiful homes and subdivisions for buyers to choose from. South Clintonville sits south of North Broadway and multi-family and single-family homes are located in the area. Many of these homes are older, historic in nature, since they were built before 1930. North Clintonville sits north of North Broadway, overlooking the Overbrook Ravine. These homes are both old and new, with the architecture made in style of homes from the 1920s and 1930s. North of Morse sits north of Morse Road and extends to Worthington. There are many attractions in the area, as well as a newly constructed park. Beechwold is the most residential area in Clintonville, with a number of home styles.
